Progress and Possibilities: The KSV 2022-23 Report
|
As we closed another successful year at KSV, we are happy to celebrate our achievements and share the 2022-23 KSV Annual Report.
Despite the lingering effects of the pandemic, this year marked a return to normalcy. Our students shone brightly - passing exams with flying colours, winning prestigious awards, and pursuing diverse passions.
A key focus this year was helping students regain academic progress disrupted by COVID. Our remedial programming, funded by the SELCO Foundation, is already yielding great results.
We were honoured to receive the Best School Award from Bala Vikas Academy, recognising KSV's commitment to holistic, values-based education. Especial thanks and credit must go to our incredible members of staff for making this possible.
We want to express our deep gratitude to our donors, especially BSN Quantitative Research, Nilekani Philanthropies, Danfoss India, SELCO Foundation, CODEX, Kokal Interiors, Double Arrow and Amistad CASIRA. Their generosity allows us to provide quality education and so much more.As we look ahead with hope, we’re inspired by our growing community of alumni pursuing their dreams - a testament to the KSV mission. Here's to an even brighter year ahead! 💜

Saturday Workshops Unleash Potential
|
Our Saturday morning Discovery & Development sessions have been gaining momentum, with students participating in a wide variety of enriching activities. The older students had the opportunity to visit a local science exhibition, sparking their curiosity through hands-on engagement with interactive displays. Meanwhile, the younger students enjoyed playful visits to nearby parks, exploring nature and staying active outdoors. We have welcomed inspiring guest speakers, including representatives from Tata Motors who discussed careers in engineering, and Bodhi Vriksha, a local NGO from Hubli that organised an engaging Life Skills workshop. This workshop covered important topics such as financial education, environmental awareness, health, personality development, and moral values.
Other sessions have included mind mapping exercises to boost creativity, road safety awareness, introduction to Vedic math techniques, nutrition guidance, team building activities to build cooperation, forest walks to connect with nature, and art/crafts projects such as making natural mandalas and shelters. Overall, these diverse Discovery & Development activities have provided enriching learning experiences outside of the regular curriculum.

Manch Pradharshan: A Platform to Perform
|
On alternate Fridays, we host our internal event, Manch Pradharshan. This is an opportunity for our students to showcase their skills and talents. This bimonthly event was instituted to help students build confidence by giving them a platform to demonstrate what they have learned in their performing arts classes. Manch Pradharshan provides a space for students of all ages to perform before the entire school - teachers, staff, and fellow students alike. The event features a diverse range of performances that display our students' skills and hard work. Applause and encouragement from the audience provide a further confidence boost to students. This event not only showcases our students' efforts but also brings the entire school together to celebrate their diverse talents. It plays a key role in building students' confidence, self-esteem, public speaking abilities, and stage confidence in a fun and engaging manner.

Hoisting the Trianga: Celebrating Freedom
|
On the 15th August we celebrated Independence Day. India’s Independence Day is a day of great significance for the people of India. On this day India attained freedom from British rule. It has been declared as the National Holiday all across the India in order to independently commemorate the independence of country from British Empire on 15th of August in 1947. We were honoured to have one of our senior hostel wardens, Pakkirramma Pagoji, host the national flag. All the students, staff and volunteers gathered on the main ground for the flag hoisting ceremony.🇮🇳

College Students Gather to Mentor and Motivate
|
On the last Sunday in August, we held a College Student’s meeting. At KSV, we have always supported students beyond 10th standard in their higher education. We currently assist over 80 college students. Around 15 still live on the KSV campus, but most have moved home or closer to college. The meeting serves as a valuable opportunity to gather and have open discussions. During the meeting, students gave brief updates about their progress, achievements and goals. We discussed important updates and matters to enhance their growth.
Afterwards, we held the first session of a new regular feature. Four senior students - Anjali, Sabia, Parsuram and Vishal - hosted an interactive Q&A with 8th to 10th standards. The seniors patiently answered all questions about college life, giving juniors insight into what's to come.

KSV Students Shine at Pratibha Karangi
|
KSV students have demonstrated great talent and team spirit in the annual inter-school Pratibha Karangi cultural activities competitions this year. Across three levels - Cluster, Taluka, and District - our students have progressed through multiple rounds to reach the finals. In the Cluster Level, 34 KSV students competed in 47 events against 16 schools. We won an impressive 13 first places, 13 second places, and 4 third places. The 13 first-place winners moved on to the next round.
At the Taluka Level, our students entered 13 events and won 2 more first places to qualify for the District Level finals coming up in the next few months.
We are thrilled that two KSV students in particular have made it to the District finals: Pooja Dyabimath in Light Music and Kaveri Karigar in Light Music. Their achievements are a testament to their hard work and dedication, as well as the support from their teachers and fellow students.
Congratulations to Pooja, Kaveri, and all the KSV students who participated in Pratibha Karangi this year. You have made our school proud. Best of luck to Pooja and Kaveri as they represent KSV in the finals!

Team Spirit Leads to Competitive Victories
|
Over the past few months, our school has participated in the inter-school sports competitions held across four levels: Cluster, Zonal, Taluka, and District. In the Cluster Level competitions, our students competed in 24 events and performed exceptionally well, securing 4 first places, 3 second places, and 1 third place finish. The top two finishers in each event then progressed to the Zonal Level.
At the Zonal Level, we entered 7 events. Kalmesh and the boys' throw-ball team earned an impressive second place result.
We are tremendously proud of all our student-athletes and their accomplishments at these competitions. They have represented our school with dedication and honour. Congratulations to our students and their teachers and mentors on this achievement. Competing against local schools, they have showcased the talent and teamwork that makes our school community so special.

Meeting and Celebrating Before the Diwali Break
|
As October came to a close, students joyfully broke for well-deserved Diwali holidays marking the end of the first semester. In the days leading up to the holiday we held a Kabaddi tournament for the students and there was one day for a staff throw-ball competition.
The final day saw parents gather for parent-teacher meetings to discuss their children's progress. This was followed by a Parents' Meeting where we highlighted the semester's activities and achievements. Staff will return shortly after Diwali for training days before students come back on November 19th to start the second semester.
We take this opportunity to wish all of you and your families a happy and prosperous Diwali. May the divine lights of the festival bring your lives peace, light, joy and good health. Happy Diwali!
